When we say "Barn
Fresh," we're not talking eggs, Baby – we're talking
vintage Ford iron. While the owner Keith Cornell is no spring
chicken to building cars, he is the goose that laid the golden
egg with his beautiful lakester three-window deuce. Nearly every
detail of this superbly crafted coupe pays tribute to the early
pioneers of hot rodding and dry lakes racing. In fact, when I
first came across a small photo of this car in Rolls &
Pleats Magazine's coverage of the Road Agents'
Rumble 2003
,
I nearly soiled myself with aesthetic excitement. I realized soon
after that I had found our next Rodderboy.com exclusive feature
story.
Whether it's the stance
,
the patina, the Schroeder Sprint Car steering or simply the ribbed
front rubber with dirt track rears, there is just something about
Keith Cornell's coupe that simply screams "real hot rod"
to me. Hell, the chop alone – one of the car's most defining
characteristics – ranks right up there as one of the coolest
I've seen on a three-window
.
Like many of our readers (author included), Keith Cornell has
been involved with cars since he was old enough to walk. A few
years back, Keith and some friends founded the Rolling
Bones Hot Rod Shop in Greenfield Center, New York where
he continues to build traditional-style hot rods with his partners
Ken Schmidt and Dave Moyer.
