Terminology 101 (References)
four-banger: Any
four-cylinder engine, but usually used to denote a Ford or Chevrolet
four.
four-barrel: Early
hot rodder term for any four-cylinder engine. This term is presently
used for referring to four-barrel carburetors.
four-port job:
a Model A or B block with a four-intake-port head (usually applies
to a Riley head).
fuel:
Generally reserved for anything other than gasoline. Up to about
1950, the term would probably denote methanol. After that, it
could mean nitromethane or a mixture of nitromethane and methanol.
full house: An early hot rodders
term for an engine with all racing accessories.
